Introducing “What Does It Cost?”
One of the most common questions we hear from school district leaders is simple—but incredibly important:
“What does it cost?”
Whether it’s playground surfacing, solar installations, athletic fields, or vendor services, districts across California face the same challenge: prices vary, proposals are packaged differently, and transparency can be hard to find.
That’s why WISH (Women in School Housing) is launching a new series called What Does It Cost?
Why We’re Doing This
The goal is straightforward: bring clarity to complex purchasing decisions. By sharing realworld insights, vendor comparisons, and evaluation tools, we’ll help superintendents, CBOs, and facility directors make informed decisions that save money and serve students better.
What to Expect
This series will include:
Blog threads on vendor evaluations, product comparisons, and funding strategies
Practical checklists and tools you can download and use in your district
Guest speakers at WISH conferences, who will bring expert perspectives on costs, best practices, and lessons learned
The Bigger Picture
At WISH, we believe that transparency leads to better outcomes. By shining a light on costs and creating a space to share knowledge, we’re working to set new standards for accountability and collaboration in school infrastructure.
This is just the beginning. Stay tuned for upcoming posts in the What Does It Cost? series—and join us at future WISH events where we’ll keep the conversation going.
Because when it comes to school facilities, knowing what it costs is the first step to building smarter, together.
